Super Junior Sweeps Through Prizes Of The Yahoo! Asia Buzz Awards 2011

At the Yahoo! Asia Buzz Awards 2011 held at 8:00 p.m.on December 20, Super Junior won four prizes including Asia Top Searched Group Artist and Top Searched Group Artist.

The awards, which marks the seventh anniversary for this year, is a renowned event to award most favored celebrities, reflecting the latest entertainment trend, based on the year-long search statistics from Yahoo. This is co-supported by Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan in partnership with a leading portal website, Yahoo. The winners for each category are decided based on the Yahoo’s searched word list and vote for the given year. That’s why the result well indicates where Asian netizens’ attention has been headed for a year.

Donghae and Siwon attended the awards on behalf of Super Junior.

They delivered their feelings on being awarded the prizes: “It is a genuine honor to be awarded the prizes. We want to extend our deep appreciation to fans for leaving indelible memories in our hearts.”



When they appeared at the Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok Airport on December 20, local media and 1,000 fans congregated around the airport to see them, creating an absolute turmoil.

Meanwhile, the awards that featured Super Junior was broadcast live via online channels throughout Hong Kong.

Winners From The "2011 Melon Music Awards"

K-Pop stars flocked to the Seoul Olympic Park Stadium on November 24th to attend the ‘2011 Melon Music Awards‘.

The awards show, which began in 2009 and is now entering its 3rd year, established itself as one of the big four music awards ceremonies in South Korea, alongside the Mnet Asian Music Awards, Golden Disk Awards, and Seoul Music Awards.

Hosted by Super Junior’s Leeteuk, actress Park Shin Hye and B2ST‘s Doojoon, the awards ceremony is famed for calculating ONLY digital sales (80%) and online votes (20%) on Melon.com; the final tally of those two factors will produce the winners in the various categories.

The National Assembly Research Group, “Popular Culture & Media Research Society’, recently held the ‘2010 Korean National Assembly Daesang Awards‘ on December 20th in Seoul.
 
A total of 11 categories for movies, popular music, and TV shows were awarded, with 2AM given the honors for 2010’s ‘Popular Music‘ award.

The winners were chosen by 202 National Assembly members through a poll.

Song Joong Ki & Yoo Ah In Nominated For ‘Best Couple Award’

Song Joong Ki and Yoo Ah In from KBS 2TV’s “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” have been nominated for the ‘Best Couple Award’ at the 2010 KBS Drama Awards.

The two played the roles of ‘Yeorim’ and ‘Geol Oh’, which received massive support from fans of the drama as the representative ‘male couple.’ One scene in particular even created a ‘gay scandal’ between the two. Yeorim, who observed Geol Oh putting his life on the line in order to find the person who wrote the fake handbill, tearfully made the following outburst:”What does that make me, the person by your side? Fine, live as you want and get out of my sight.”

Although both actors and producers clarified the scene to be an expression of their deep friendship, it seems as if viewers took it differently, landing the two a nomination for the awards show.

A representative of KBS’s variety team revealed, “Due to the aggressive recommendations and support the press corps have shown, we were able to confidently put the ‘Song Joong Ki and Yoo Ah In’ couple as nominations for the ‘Best Couple Award’. We predict that they will receive just as many user votes as the other hetero couples in the viewers votes.”

Even though the couple is said to be ‘just friends’, if the two should win the award, it would prove to be a great step towards a positive reception of the queer community in Korea!

Moon Geun Young and Jang Geun Seok Confirmed as Winners at the 2010 Yahoo Buzz Awards

Finally! The controversy and conspiracy theories can be laid to rest now. Yahoo has investigated the allegations of voting discrepancies, and have discounted any votes from any suspicious IP address, which did not just appear in the votes for any one star but throughout the nominees pool. As a result, Yahoo released the definite and confirmed winners for its 2010 Buzz Awards. Congratulations to Jang Geun Seok (Korea Male Star and Asia Star), and Moon Geun Young (Korea Female Star)!

Jang Geun Seok is coming off a stellar year with You’re Beautiful and now Mary Stayed Out All Night, and Moon Geun Young got a lot of exposure earlier this year for Cinderalla Unni. Seriously, this news makes me giddy as a school girl again. The thought of Geun-squared showing up to accept their awards together is giving me the fangirl shakes. I would pay money for them to show up dressed and in the character of Mu Gyul and Mae Ri. How adorable would that be? Out of this world adorable.

But I worry that neither may be able to attend the awards show on December 17, 2010 in Hong Kong. M3 is pretty much on a live-shoot schedule now, and I don’t know if they drama can afford to lose its two main actors for 2 days, minimum, right when that week would require them to likely film the final few episodes of the drama.

Drama gods, please make it happen that the most adorable and chemistry-laden K-drama couple this year can give me some awards show fanservice. Unless we’re talking Baeksangs, I normally don’t pay attention to these popularity contests. Right now I care only because Jang Geun Seok and Moon Geun Young have stolen my heart. Oh my darlings Mae Ri and Mu Gyul!

The end of the year is near, and the Korean music industry is abuzz with news of upcoming awards shows that seek to recognize the most outstanding artists in a multitude of categories.

As a nod to these important events in the K-pop realm, allkpop has decided to initiate our first ever “allkpop Awards” this year, and we’re inviting fans from all over the world to determine the results!

That’s right – the votes will be 100% determined by international K-pop fans.

In order to ensure that the results are achieved in a fair manner, we’ve established a system in which votes can be submitted once a day per category via Twitter or Facebook.

Fans can vote as many times as they like over the course of the awards voting period, but again, only one vote per category per day will be counted.

We are aiming to make this an award that accurately represents the opinions of the international K-pop community, so check out the nominees below, and help decide K-pop’s best of 2010!
